Amy Geils is a licensed Physical Therapist with over three decades of clinical experience, beginning her practice in 1991. She earned her degree from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts, graduating summa cum laude while actively contributing to campus life as a member of the women’s volleyball team and a choreographer for the choral ensemble.
Amy began her career in New Jersey, specializing in outpatient orthopedics and sports medicine. She later advanced to the role of Orthopedic and Bedside Supervisor at Hackensack University Medical Center, a 900-bed nonprofit research and teaching hospital, where she developed strong leadership and clinical expertise.
In 1996, Amy relocated to Arizona and continued her focus in orthopedics, with particular emphasis on post-operative rehabilitation for total joint replacements. In 2010, she joined the team at Barrow Brain and Spine, where she expanded her clinical perspective and was introduced to the work of Jean-Pierre Barral and the Barral Institute. This experience deepened her commitment to a whole-body, integrative approach to care.
Since joining Ascend Performance Institute in 2017, Amy has focused on identifying and treating the root causes of physical dysfunction. She is dedicated to delivering high-quality, individualized care and empowering clients with the knowledge and tools needed for long-term results.
Amy has pursued extensive advanced training in the autonomic nervous system, Visceral and Vascular Mobilization, Peripheral and Cranial Nerve Mobilization, Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Release, Joint Mobilization and Manipulation, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), and Muscle Energy Techniques. In July 2026, Amy will have completed the 4-course series on the Manual Approach to the Brain with emphasis on neurovascular integration, cerebrospinal fluid dynamics, meningeal mobility, neuroplasticity, and functional brain-sensory processing. Clinical applications include precision-based manual techniques to support central nervous system regulation, sensorimotor integration, and restoration of neural connectivity.
She has led education programs in ergonomics and aquatic rehabilitation, and currently provides mentorship to other therapists and healthcare providers in the local community and serves as a teaching assistant with the Barral Institute.
Outside of her clinical work, Amy enjoys an active lifestyle that includes travel, hiking, biking, swimming, snorkeling, photography, cooking, and gardening.
